Weight Management

Contributors: The heartMonitron NUTRITION JOURNAL, The heartMonitron WEIGHT MONITOR

Weight management, weight control and especially weight loss are the subject of countless articles, shows and advertisements. Some frivolous ads claim they have found some unknown secret to lose weight "while you sleep", with no diet or no effort. Others propose methods that are unhealthy or unsafe, especially if you happen to be a diabetic or suffer from heart disease. The raw truth is that "magic pills" and "miraculous methods" do not really exist.

hM believes that any diet should provide the dieter with all the nutrients necessary to the maintenance of good health. In an article, published in The hM Weight Monitor, we stress the importance of using reliable sources of information when designing a weight loss or management diet. The title of the article is "Weight Loss Diets and the USDA's Food Pyramid as a Safety Reference".

Further reading is suggested, from sources such as The Johns Hopkins Center, for instance. Relevant cookbooks and recipe software complements in The weight management section of the hM Bookstore, the titles are from trustworthy medical, scientific or institutional sources: http://heartmonitron.com/hm_meddigest_journals_on_nutrition-_heart_and_diabetes-_cholesterol_and_healthy_weight_044.htm

Other trustworthy  titles are available from:

and many other similar entities.

When using recipe, menu or meal planning software , the supervision of your physician or your registered dietitian may be indicated.
